Update: One Person Was Killed and One Was Airlifted After the Friday Morning Crash of US 287.


Craig Hysaw, 61, of Denver, was killed in the crash, according to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The passenger, Jasper Therman, 58, of Denver, Colorado, was airlifted from the scene.

Hysaw was eastbound on US 287 in the left lane when he swerved into the center median and collided with the crossover rail at CR 8. His vehicle became airborne, rotated forward, and rolled after colliding with the crossover rail.



COUNTY OF ARMSTRONG, TEXAS – According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials, one person was killed and another was airlifted following a Friday morning crash on US 287 near Claude.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 7 a.m. Friday and involved only one vehicle. While one person died at the scene, another was airlifted to a hospital by Life Star services.

While DPS officials stated that US 287 was closed in the area of the crash at the time, it reopened shortly after 9 a.m. While the investigation is ongoing, officials have stated that they will release additional information as it becomes available.

This fatal crash comes on the heels of another earlier this week on US 287 in Armstrong County, which killed five people.
