There Is Still Time to Receive a Stimulus Check; Here Is How

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK — While the deadlines for the first two Economic Impact Payments have passed, the third stimulus check, worth up to $1,400 per person, is still available if you haven’t received it already.

According to, as of January 2022, the majority of qualified beneficiaries of the payments permitted by the American Rescue Plan in March 2021 had already received stimulus payments via direct deposit or mailed cheques.

Stimulus Check

If you haven’t received a payment, your only option is to file a 2021 tax return, which is due on April 18.

The third stimulus check was issued by the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit credit based on your income and the number of dependents listed on your 2020 or 2019 tax return. As a result, if you qualified for dependents in 2021, you may owe money. If you did not file a tax return in 2019 or 2020, you may be eligible for a stimulus credit.

How Do I Obtain Stimulus Funding?

If you believe you are due a third government payment but did not receive it, you must complete the Recovery Rebate Tax Credit worksheet and include it with your 2021 tax return. The worksheet explains how to figure out how much money you’re eligible for.

The third stimulus check averaged $1,400 per person for most families, including all dependents declared on their tax return. A single person with no dependents typically earns $1,400, while a family of four (married couple with two dependents) earns $5,600.

Assume you did not receive the third stimulus check. In that case, you can use the IRS’s “Get My Payment” service, which is only available on and is available in English and Spanish. It is updated once per day, usually during the night.

In addition, if you are concerned about the status of your third stimulus payment, you can use “track your payment” to obtain a tax refund for the amount owed to you.
