The Executive of Japan’s Ruling Party Has Called for a New Stimulus Package

A senior ruling party executive said on Tuesday that Japan needs to come up with a package of measures to soften the economic impact of the Ukraine crisis.

“Given rising inflation, there’s a risk of stagflation in Japan,” Tatsuo Fukuda, a member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), said during a news conference.

As the conflict in Ukraine raises fuel and commodity prices, some MPs have urged the government to put together a new spending package to help consumers and businesses cope.
