Panic covered in white smoke covered in Beirut port, Lebanon

Beirut: White smoke completely blanketed the port of Beirut, causing panic among residents of the Lebanese capital. Citing sources, smoke blanketed the port, where a major fire broke out on the night of September 10.

Civil protection teams deployed
Civil protection teams have been staying at the port for two days since the fire, as the duty-free (untaxed) warehouse at the fire port contains food, oil, tires, cosmetics, clothing, shoes, household appliances and electricity. Destroy the device.

Ali Najm, director of information for the Beirut fire department, said teams were attempting to remove products kept at the port, causing white smoke as the situation was brought under control. The fire is estimated at $ 1.5 million.

Large part destroyed by fire
Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) spokesperson Rona Halabi noted that much of the goods distributed to poor families in Lebanon and Syria had been destroyed by fire.

Explosions at the port on August 4
The Port of Beirut is an important facility used by the LRC to store products. Previously, 190 people were killed in the August 4 explosion at the port, thousands were injured and nearly 300,000 became homeless.

2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate
The explosion was caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in a port warehouse. The cause of the fire is not known and investigations are still ongoing. (IANS entry)
