Nearly 30 Million Refunds Have Been Issued by the IRS. This Is a Typical Payout.

Despite continued issues, the IRS stated Friday that it has issued over 30 million tax refunds totaling $103.2 billion.

According to a Bankrate survey, while 29 percent of Americans are concerned about a lesser return, the average is presently $3,473 until Feb. 25, which is $658 more than last year’s payout of $2,815.

Of fact, as millions of Americans file in the final days before the April 18 deadline, the average refund may alter. So far, the IRS has received around 45.4 million returns.

The most recent filing season numbers come at a difficult time for the IRS, which is still dealing with millions of unprocessed individual returns from last year.

The status of your refund

While the IRS was prohibited by law from issuing refunds for the earned income tax credit or the additional child tax credit until mid-February, the payments should have reached taxpayers by March 1, according to the agency.

You may check the status of your return using the “Where’s My Refund?” web tool or the IRS2Go app. You may receive an update 24 hours after the IRS receives your electronic filing or four weeks after mailing your paper return.
