While the federal government has ceased issuing stimulus checks, some states have stepped in to provide residents with a fourth stimulus check in 2022. Four states are currently preparing additional stimulus payments — and while not everyone will be eligible, Marca reported that these payments will benefit 87 million residents in total.

New York City

A stimulus fund worth more than $2 billion, dubbed the Excluded Workers Fund, has been approved to assist undocumented workers who were previously unable to collect federal stimulus checks. Marca reports that money has been distributed to those who fall into that category and earn less than $26,208 in 2020. In 2022, this programme will be expanded.

 

Indiana

Indiana residents may be eligible for additional cash in 2022. According to Marca, the Indiana state government posted a large surplus last year and intends to issue a tax refund worth approximately $125.

 

California

California Governor Gavin Newsom unveiled a $286 billion budget proposal for the fiscal year 2022, according to KTLA. While the budget does not include another round of Golden State Stimulus checks, additional tax rebates are possible this year as the state determines how to spend its budget surplus.

Florida

According to Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida school teachers may receive a stimulus payment of up to $1,000 this year. This payment will be made to approximately 177,000 teachers and principals in Florida. Additionally, Governor DeSantis has allocated $600 million to increase the minimum teacher salary from $40,000 to $47,500.
