Biden Receives a New Covid Vaccination and Announces New Virus-related Activities

President Joe Biden got his updated COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, and he urged more Americans to do the same before winter and the holidays.

Executives from Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, and Albertsons, as well as the Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, the president’s chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, and the White House COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha, were there with Biden.

Biden added, “We’re here with a simple message: Get vaccinated, and make sure your COVID vaccine is up to date.” “It works pretty well, but not enough people know about it. We need to fix this so that everyone can spend the holidays in safety and good health.”

The new COVID-19 vaccine has now been given to more than 20 million Americans, including about one out of every five seniors. The White House says that the most recent booster doses are aimed at two subvariants of the omicron variant. These are the strains of the virus that are most common in the U.S. and around the world right now.

Tuesday, the Biden administration announced several programs to help Americans get better jobs.

The president said, “As a country, we need to make a choice.” “Can we repeat the things that happened in past winters? Because of the virus, there will be more infections, more hospitalizations, and more loved ones getting sick or even dying. Or will we have a much better winter if we use everything we have now?”

A White House fact sheet says that in the next few weeks, Walgreens will work with DoorDash and Uber “to allow free delivery of prescriptions of Paxlovid, an oral COVID-19 therapy, right to the doorsteps of Americans living in low-income neighborhoods.”

The Department of Health and Human Services will start the “#VaxUpAmerica Family Vaccine Tour.” This will include pop-up events like the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship in Arizona next month, as well as the distribution of vaccination “toolkits” to childcare centers, nursing homes, community health centers, and other places.

The White House says that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will try to reach seniors by email and phone with information about the new COVID-19 immunizations and how to get them.

The White House says that the Biden administration will also give businesses a “fall playbook” on how to deal with COVID-19.

In his speech on Tuesday, Biden asked employers to give their workers time off so they could get vaccinated. He also asked colleges and universities to hold immunization clinics on campus before Thanksgiving.

The president said, “This isn’t about politics.” “Your health and the health of those you care about are at stake.”

In the meantime, Albertsons, CVS, Rite Aid, Southeastern Grocers, Walgreens, Walmart, and Sam’s Club all have their vaccination campaigns.

A reporter asked Biden at the event on Tuesday if COVID was still a “national emergency.” “It’s something we have to deal with to make sure it doesn’t become a problem,” the president said, implying that it wasn’t happening right now.

He did, however, call the virus a “global emergency” and scold Congress for not giving more money to COVID. Republican lawmakers have turned down the latest requests for more money, saying that the money they already had was not used well.

“Some of our colleagues in Congress say that we don’t need COVID funding or that the government has no reason to pay for it. I don’t agree at all. I disagree with you completely. This is a health crisis around the world. We must fight together if we want to get rid of COVID “Biden stated.
