Police in Arizona reported a 16-year-old McDonald’s employee was fatally shot Wednesday in the restaurant’s toilet.
Around 10:15 a.m., Phoenix police responded to a report of a shooting at the restaurant at 51st Avenue and Baseline Road and discovered a person suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim has been named as Prince Nedd, who died at the site of his injuries, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
According to police, detectives discovered from witnesses that Nedd was involved in an argument with “a guy thought to be known to him” previous to the shooting.
The police have not said if a suspect has been identified. The inquiry is still underway.
Nedd’s relatives informed Phoenix-based NBC station KPNX that he began working at the McDonald’s less than two months ago.
According to the TV station, two employees on the scene at the time of the shooting stated that the gunman is another young employee with whom they had previously clashed.
Nedd attended Betty H. Fairfax High School as a senior and played football there, according to his acquaintances.
“We are heartbroken by our friend’s and colleague’s unfortunate passing,” the restaurant’s owner stated in a statement to NBC News.
“Our organization’s first focus has always been and will always be the safety and well-being of our employees and guests at our restaurants. The statement said, “We are completely collaborating with the police department and their inquiry.”
