According to Investigators, a Texas Man Claims He Hid His Son’s Remains in His Kitchen for Four Years.

Authorities conducting a welfare check on a boy in Texas discovered his remains inside his father’s kitchen last week and discovered he died four years ago.

The police department in New Boston, a suburb of Texarkana, said officers were called shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday to check on Jason McMichael. They were greeted at the site by his father, David McMichael.

He informed them that his kid died in May 2018 and that the body was stashed in his kitchen.

When officers entered the home, they discovered the male’s skeletal remains. David McMichael, 67, was apprehended on the spot.

The Texarkana Crime Scene unit and New Boston Police officers obtained a search warrant and found that the remains could be those of Jason McMichael.

A postmortem examination has been requested.

“The corpse was released to Mid-South Transport and transported to Dallas’ Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences for autopsy and additional identification,” the police department stated in a news release.

The department did not divulge the identity of the individual who requested the welfare check.

McMichael faces a charge of unlawful abuse of a corpse and is being held in the Bowie County jail.
