A Man From Texas Is Charged With Fatally Shooting Two Dentists at a Clinic.


TYLER, TX – Authorities said a Texas man was detained on a capital murder charge after fatally shooting two dentists at a clinic.

Steven Alexander Smith, 40, is accused of shooting the two workers at Affordable Dentures in Tyler, about 90 miles (145 kilometres) southeast of Dallas, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Smith “got enraged at clinic workers,” retrieved a weapon from his pickup truck, returned to the lobby, and opened fire.

According to the sheriff’s office, two doctors were hit by gunshots and both died. Dr. Blake G. Sinclair, 59, and Dr. Jack E. Burroughs, 75, were identified by authorities. Tyler was responsible for both.

Smith ran, according to investigators, but he was apprehended at his house. On $2.5 million bond, he is being held in the Smith County jail. According to jail records, he does not have an attorney.
