A Baton Rouge Man Accused of Killing a Texas Man in 2018 Will Go on Trial in September.

A Baton Rouge man has been assigned a September trial date in connection with the 2018 robbery and shooting death of a Texas man discovered in an abandoned house on Dayton Street.

Christopher Pender, 31, is charged with second-degree murder, armed robbery, and handgun possession by a convicted felon in connection with the death of Brian Allen Cook.



Cook, 42, of Kyle, Texas, was discovered dead on Dec. 5, 2018 in the 2500 block of Dayton. The community is a small area located near the highway overpass between Plank Road and Interstate 110.

State District Judge Tarvald Smith scheduled Pender’s trial for Sept. 12 this week.

Pender has a prior conviction for simple robbery in Baton Rouge state court, according to his East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury indictment.
