  • You must have been financially impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, such as: being furloughed, laid off, or having work hours reduced due to Covid-19; being unable to work due to a Covid-19 diagnosis for you, your spouse or partner, or your dependent; or being unable to work due to a lack of childcare due to Covid-19.
  • You must meet the guidelines for income eligibility
  • The second phase of the UBI Pilot program in Minnesota

In November 2020, Mayor Melvin Carter launched the People’s Prosperity Guaranteed Income Pilot UBI pilot program.

Mayor Carter decided to extend the program into a second phase because the first phase was so successful.

The second phase will utilize $4 million in federal Covid relief funds to provide monthly payments to 300 families for two years.

 

Expectant parents will also be included in the second phase.

“Our goal is to influence families even before a child is born,” Mayor Carter told Axios Twin Cities.

 

Success of UBI income for Minnesota parents

Mayor Melvin Carter launched the People’s Prosperity Guaranteed Income Pilot in November 2020 to provide low-income parents with the additional income they need to make ends meet and the dignity of decision-making autonomy.

Through this program, the state was able to provide $500 per month for 18 months to 150 families.

Initial analysis reveals that approximately 28% of the funds were allocated to food, 28% to services, and 24% to sales and merchandise.

Participants also reported utilizing the funds for winter clothing and holiday gifts.

With this success, in February 2022, Mayor Carter decided to extend the program for a second phase.

 

Criteria for participation in California’s cash assistance programs

Golden State I (GSS 1) and Golden State Stimulus II (GSS II) initiatives were launched in 2021 by the state of California.

To qualify for either program, your income must be below $75,000, you must have lived in California for more than half of the 2020 tax year, and you must have filed your taxes for 2020 by October 15, 2021.

 

These payments have a maximum value of $1,200.

If you believe you may qualify, you should submit an application at ftb.ca.gov.

States issuing stimulus checks and other payments

In the coming weeks, the bank accounts of millions of Americans will increase by up to $1,200.

To be eligible for the Power Saver Rewards Program, you must be a PG&E customer in California, have a SmartMeter, and not be enrolled in a competing PG&E energy program to receive bill credits.
