25 terrorists killed in Afghanistan, 8 injured

Kabul: At least 25 militants were killed and eight others injured after Afghan security forces thwarted a Taliban attack in Lagman province.

A government spokesperson gave this information. Spokesman Asadullah Dawlatzai told Xinhua, “Activists attacked the security checkpoint in the middle of the night in the Jabon area north of the provincial capital Mehtarlam.”

Ground forces sought air support and the Afghan Air Force attacked the terrorists.

He said that among the militants killed were five fighters from the Taliban Red Unit. The attackers came from nearby hilly areas. Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition after the clashes.
